Style Inspiration -- Pretty In Pink
Thursday, April 19, 2012
This is my first collage!! I made it using Gimp, which is a free photo editing software. I really like it; it's pretty easy to use and there are a lot of tutorials for it on the web.
Pink is becoming one of my favorite colors to wear. I used to stay away from it because it was a stereotypical "girl" color and I just didn't have much of it in my wardrobe, but now I find my self drawn to pink things while I'm shopping. It's perfect for spring, girly, chic, and refreshing. Even as a former tomboy I really like wearing this color now, it adds a nice pop to an outfit. And I made a style inspiration collage specially for you, to show the different ways you can wear the color pink.

Bright Eyes
Wednesday, March 28, 2012
Would you try this trend? Wearing neon eyeliner/eyeshadow seem daring, but I like it. You could wear it subtly for day like in the 4th and 6th pictures or go crazy for a fun night out like the rest of the pictures. What do you think? I already ordered some cheap neon eyeliner from hot topic just to try it out :).

Hunger Games--Effie Trinket
Saturday, March 24, 2012
So I went to go see the the Hunger Games yesterday. It was awesome! I loved it. I didn't get the same feeling from it as I did from the books, but I wasn't expecting to. The soundtrack fit perfectly and Rue was so cute! Also I think Josh Hutcherson was really good as Peeta. But let's focus on the biggest, most important part of the movie: Effie Trinket's amazing outfits. I think living in the Capitol would is like being constantly surrounded by couture fashion shows. Just look at Effie's outfits:And here is the Capitol: (do you see what they're wearing!?)Posted by Maya at 4:55 PM | Labels: effie trinket, fashion, hunger games, inspiration | 3 comments | Email This BlogThis! So I decided to change the name of my blog since petrichor doesn't really have anything to do with fashion. It will now be called *drum roll* ...... Space Age Meets Floral
Sunday, March 4, 2012
In a beautiful mix of future and past photographer David Sims captures the gorgeous Isabeli Fontana and Karlie Kloss wearing a mix of space age fabric and floral designs on classic silhouettes. (My favorite is the first one, gotta love big plastic flowers, but alas, $3,840 is too much. DIY perhaps?)

Lace Applique Earrings
Monday, February 27, 2012
I made these earrings awhile back (inspired by this) so I don't have a full tutorial with pictures of each step, materials, and the whole nine yards. It's really simple though so you don't really need it.
Materials:-Earring hooks-Earring backs (flat for studs)-Lace applique or doily-Super or hot glue-Scissors
Basically what you do is take your lace applique or doily and cut of a part that you want to use for your earrings. For the studs cut of a small part like a little flower and glue it onto the earring backs. For the dangle earrings cut a bigger part of the lace that hangs down. Open the hook of the earring hook and attach the lace. I just put the hook through and open part of the lace as you can see in the picture, but if your applique or doily has a hole in it you can attach it there.Posted by Maya at 3:00 PM | Labels: accessories, DIY, earring, hair tutorials | 0 comments | Email This BlogThis! DIY Materials
Wednesday, February 15, 2012
First check out this really helpful post at A Pair and A Spare about how to start DIYing. Then come back here and look at my awesome post! Number 4 on that list was to stockpile materials, and in all my travels around the interwebs I have found a whole lot of places to get materials. I literally have a whole bookmark folder filled with websites and places to get inexpensive materials. Today I'm going to share it with you.
First up: Etsy (by the way check out my etsy shop here) Etsy is an awesome website filled with people selling handmade goods and other people selling stuff to used to make handmade goods! Here are some of my favorite shops that I get materials from:
Those shops mostly have things for jewelry making, but if you search around Esty you can find a lot of good stuff. These shops however are for crafts in general:
- M&J Trimming
- Hobby Lobby
- Target, Kmart, Walmart (inexpensive clothing stores are good places to buy clothes that you can then change and make your own).
